Leon "Pappy" Selph wrote The
Orange Blossom Special in 1927. From when we
opened Goode Company BarBQ in 1977 until he died, he'd
heat up the fiddle Friday nights out on our patio on
Kirby Drive. He required $65 and a bottle of Jack Daniels
whiskey. He knew times were lean for us then, so he
never took the cash -- but he always drank his bottle.
It's Texas heroes like Pappy that Goode's
Armadillo Palace will celebrate. His spirit will
inspire a new generation of Texas musicians to make
memories in the tradition of a great man and a dear
friend, Leon "Pappy" Selph.
We know that "cowboys like smoky old pool rooms and clear mountain mornins."
Need some fresh air? Join us for an ice cold beer on our patio, where any given
day we might be boiling crawfish, grilling fajitas or smoking brisket. It's
Texas, sometimes we like to sit outside. If it gets too hot for y'all, step
inside, cool off and belly up to the whiskey bar.

Reputations aren't built overnight. Ours is deep rooted in fresh ingredients,
authentic preparation, and hand-made from-scratch recipes of Texas food at its
finest. Goode's Armadillo Palace will be no exception. Our kitchen will be
serving it up from lunch 'til close daily.
